On Tuesday, a woman was caught damaging at least two cars in northern Longmont.

Longmont Police Officers responded to a call around 1:40 a.m. in the 100 block of 21st Ave.

A witness called the police to report seeing a woman rip the windshield wiper off of a vehicle and use it to shatter the car’s windshield.

According to the witness, the woman entered another vehicle and began throwing items from inside the vehicle onto the street and started a fire on the street near the cars. The fire was fueled by leaves, according to Robin Ericson, communications and marketing manager of LPD.

Officers arrested the woman, who has been charged with arson, criminal mischief and criminal trespass, and transported her to Boulder County Jail.

With these types of reports, according to Ericson, there’s usually follow up calls to police as people notice their cars have been damaged following the incident. So far, the total number of damaged vehicles in this case is unknown.
