Longmont Leader candidate Q&As and more primary election info

Candidates line out their vision in response our questionnaires, plus info on how to cast your ballots between now and June 30.

The primary election is only 12 days away and ballots started arriving in mailboxes last week. 

Contested primary races on Longmont voters’ ballots are Democratic and Libertarian contests for U.S. Senate and a Democratic race for Boulder County District 2 commissioner. To help voters learn more about the candidates prior to casting their ballots, The Leader asked them to complete short questionnaires. Democratic Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff and Libertarian Senate candidate Gaylon Kent did not respond to our request, but the other candidates did. Read their responses here:

Unaffiliated voters were mailed both major party ballots, but can only vote and return one; if two voted ballots are returned, none of the votes/ballots can be counted. 

Ballots can be returned at 16 24-hour mail ballot drop boxes across Boulder County, including six in Longmont.

Vote centers for in-person voting (with COVID-19 related safety precautions) will open on June 22. In Longmont, the vote center will be at the Boulder County St. Vrain Community Hub, 515 Coffman St. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 22-26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 29 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 30. 

Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. June 30 to be counted.
