I have never volunteered for or donated to a political campaign before. Matthew is the first candidate who has inspired me to do both — and I am proud to be involved.
I had the pleasure of meeting Matthew last spring while attending a leadership program offered by the Longmont Chamber of Commerce (LACC). During a visit to Longmont’s city government, Matthew presented on behalf of the Longmont City Council. I was immediately impressed by his depth of knowledge and his professional experience in city planning — expertise that I later learned is his “day job.”
Matthew holds a master’s degree in public policy, and as I explored more about his background, I was further impressed. We later met for coffee (which became a two-hour conversation) where we shared personal stories, perspectives on politics, family, music, and why we moved to Longmont. Matthew and his wife Eleonora chose to move here from the East Coast to have a life aligned with their lifestyles. After driving cross-country to visit the region, Longmont was their hands-down choice for where they wanted to build their life together.
In just a few years, they have already become deeply involved in the community. That is telling of both who they are, what they value, and how vested they already are in Longmont. After that conversation, I knew I wanted to support this young man in his bid for the Ward 2 City Council seat. Simply put, a vote for Matthew for the Ward 2 seat is also a vote for Longmont. His leadership is unique in this race. He will not only represent his constituents in Ward 2 but also the broader community in his role as chair of LURA (Longmont Urban Renewal Authority), which helps reinvest in our old industrial areas like the Sugar Mill. This is what drew him to get involved, and it is a responsibility he approaches with vision and integrity.
I encourage you to join me in supporting Matthew. Longmont will be stronger with his leadership on the City Council.
Sincerely,
Karin Ringdahl Snyder
