I’ve fallen in love with Longmont over the past nine years I’ve lived here. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of the creative characters that make Longmont a special place where I feel safe, at home, and inspired. Matthew Popkin is one of those Longmont personalities that I see being destined to help Longmont grow into a more welcoming, livable, lovable city. And isn’t that what we all want? A city that we love, that we continue to be proud of, that we want to do business in, where we want our kids and grandkids to be.
Matthew visited my farm, Jack’s Solar Garden, in 2022, and told me he wanted to be involved. I hear that from a lot of people. Bless those folks for their passion, but it’s rare that someone follows through. Matthew held to his word, helping our newly-formed nonprofit, the Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center, connect with useful stakeholders. A year later, he chose to join our board to provide advice, put pen to paper, and advocate on our behalf. He even volunteered to play a lively piano concert at one of our events! Now I know that when Matthew says he wants to be involved, he gets involved.
Longmont needs leaders that choose to get involved. Who choose to be in and learn about their community. Who choose to spend their time and creativity shaping our city into a place that everyone loves. Matthew Popkin is this kind of leader. So, dear reader, I hope you choose to support Matthew Popkin like I do, and vote for him to remain the Ward 2 City Councilmember for Longmont.
Sincerely,
Byron Kominek
