The Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated local businesses and nonprofits Thursday night, handing out nine awards at its annual Jubilee.
The event went virtual this year and added boxes full of local goodies for the celebration that were sold in advance of the online festivities, which are now on sale again through noon Tuesday.
Collectively, 14 businesses and nonprofits were nominated in four awards categories — Business of the Year, Emerging Business, Legacy Business and Nonprofit of the Year. Winners in each of those respective categories were:
- CYCLHOPS Bike CANtina, the local spot for tacos, tequila, beer and bikes that draws its name from two of Oskar Blues’ favorite things — cycling and beer.
- Training for Warriors, a Longmont fitness center whose motto is “lose fat, build muscle, feel good.”
- The Flower Bin Garden Center and Nursery, which has been open in Longmont for more 49 years.
- Longmont Meals on Wheels, which before the coronavirus pandemic altered its schedule, delivered more than 400 meals per day.
In addition, the Chamber honored The Hidden Treasure 2 with its Resiliency Award, Daniel Yeager and StickerGiant with Building Bridges Awards and Rocky Mountain Kawasaki with its Safety Champion Award.
Karin Snyder, owner of Snyder Insurance Associates, was named Ambassador of the Year.
The event — thanks to donations from High Plains Bank and other contributors — raised more than $5,000 for the Chamber’s Unity Funds the Community grant program, which it started with High Plains Bank to recognize the work of local nonprofits, according to an email from the Chamber. Longmont Meals on Wheels received a $2,000 grant, and $1,000 grants were given to each of the other finalists for the nonprofit award — Cultivate, Longmont Food Rescue and Providing, Empowerment and Acceptance, or PEARL.
Correction: The Chamber awarded two Building Bridges Awards for a total of nine awards. That information was incorrect in the original posting of this story.
