Courtney Michelle, owner of CocoMichelle Salon & Spa, opened the business 13 years ago after being laid-off from a high-tech job. From there she decided to explore beauty school and worked as an independent contractor at a local salon. She took over that salon in 2007 and created CocoMichelle.

"When I started a business here, I got to know the heart of the city, the feeling of it. I also got to know the business community, the downtown area and all that Longmont has to offer," says Michelle.

After joining the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, Michelle began volunteering with Longmont Sister Cities. "Not only did that help me grow my business, it connected me to all kinds of people in Longmont and has become like a family," states Michelle.

Michelle is devoted to being a contributing member of the Longmont community. She extends that volunteerism through her business. CocoMichelle Salon and Spa, as a business, volunteers with nonprofits, donates to charity and helps to raise awareness of local issues. In the past, the salon has supported events such as Hair for Hunger and Hair for Hounds. During the Hair for Hounds event, Michelle shaved her head in support of the Longmont Humane Society.

"I love Longmont! I'm in love with Longmont and hopefully, it will be a long love affair," says Michelle.
