After Jenna Poppenhagen and Nicole Boggs ran into hiccups while trying to open a new bar in Longmont, they met the owners of Dry Land Distillers and were approached about starting a new women's group in town.
That group, Distilling Dames, which is based out of Dry Land Distillers, is a woman's cocktail club that will "talk about spirits and distilling, and cocktail culture and cocktail elements."
"We want to be a place where you come once a month and you learn something and you make friends," said Poppenhagen, co-founder of Distilling Dames.
Poppenhagen also stated that guest speakers, samplings, and maybe food pairings are also in the club's future.
They will be meeting for the first time this Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Still Cellars from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
They plan to meet once per month and will try to go to all of the distilleries in Longmont.
Poppenhagen stated that so far Longtucky and Anvil have agreed to participate.
The dues, which will get you into every meeting, samples at distilleries, and a free cocktail every time the club meets at Dry Land Distillers, are $99 per year for life for the first 40 people; $149 per year for those who join afterward. A cover charge of $15 at the door will also be offered for those interested in dipping their toes.
The first 40 members will also get a free 'Founding Dames' t-shirt and a bottle of Dry Land.
