Robert Underwood celebrates ribbon cutting for Holistic Eye Care

Holistic Eye Care, located at 1225 Ken Pratt Blvd, Suite 124, celebrated its official grand opening on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce.

Robert Underwood runs the clinic, and uses acupuncture, nutrition, herbal supplementation and other holistic modalities to help patients. Underwood is a licensed acupuncturist and has a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine and uses a combination of Asian and Western approaches in his practice.

Underwood opened Holistic Eye Care as an off-shoot of Good Life Acupuncture, which he has owned and operated since 2011. In 2017, he decided to turn his attention to eye health after watching some of his own family members struggle with sight-threatening eye disease, including macular degeneration.

“I started by using the techniques you see represented here on myself because I didn’t want to end up with the same challenges they were experiencing,” he said.

Underwood began formally integrating eye care into his practice about six years ago, and said his clients have experienced great results.

“A lot of people who have come to see me have been told that there isn’t anything that can be done to help them. When they see what we can do for them, they’re amazed,” he said.

Underwood’s wife, Stacy Donelson, is also an acupuncturist at the clinic. Together, they have lived in Longmont for decades. Their connection to the community was evident by the many friends and neighbors who attended Thursday’s ribbon-cutting, alongside members of the chamber.

“We are so happy to have everyone come out and support us,” Underwood said. “We really look forward to being able to serve the larger community in a new way.”
