The Longmont Public Library hosts multiple events each year for children. Here is a list of current and upcoming events.

Meet "Miss Potter" & Peter Rabbit: On Saturday, July 28, from 1-2 p.m. is Meet "Miss Potter" & Peter Rabbit. Children who attend this event will hear the story of Peter Rabbit "straight from the mouth of Beatrix Potter (as performed by Connie Neumann)" according to the library's website.

This event will also include crafts, "garden" snacks and photos with "Miss Potter." This event is targeted at children 6 and over.

Campfire Songs and Stories: On Thursday, August 9, from 7-8 p.m., is Campfire Songs and Stories with Heather Stenner.

This event will feature a campfire on the west patio of the library for families to gather around to sing and hear stories. Marshmallows will be provided by the library.

According to the library website, "Children ages 9 and younger must be accompanied by a caregiver."

Maker Mondays: Mondays through August 6 are Maker Mondays. These are make-and-take craft events targeting children ages 10 and under.

Crafts are designed to take 20-30 minutes and may require the assistance of an adult for younger children. No registration is required.

Here is a list of projects for Maker Mondays:

    • July 23: Robot balancing STEM challenge and marble mazes
    • July 30: The art of Beatrix Potter
    • August 6: DIY Mod Podge magnets

Quarters Bar and Arcade To Move into Former La Vita Bella Location

Quarters Bar and Arcade is moving into the former La Vita Bella location at 475 Main St. They are in the process of acquiring their liquor license. A public hearing is set for July 26 at 2 p.m. at 225 Kimbark St., Longmont to hear public opinion on the matter.

Food Rebate Program to be Presented During July 24 Longmont City Council

During the July 24 city council meeting, city staff will present information on a Food Rebate Program. The information gathered is formulated from similar programs in Boulder and Arvada.
