On Saturday March 24, Open Door Brewing Co. is celebrating the first anniversary for the opening of their taproom.

The celebration kicks off with a 5k run/walk and 10k run which is hosted by Prospect Fun Runners and Walkers. The run begins at Open Door located at  2030 Ionosphere Street G, Longmont. Lisa begins a round of stretching at 9:45 a.m. The 10k run begins at 10 a.m. and the 5k run/walk begins at 10:15 a.m.

The race is not timed or marked, however, the route will be chalked. Runners are asked to bring their own water.

The run is free to enter and is a fun, casual event that the entire family can enjoy. Prizes will be given out after the race (must be present at Open Door to win).

In the afternoon, the food truck, Chibby Wibbitz, will be parked outside Open Door Brew Co. from 3-9 p.m.

Beginning at 8 p.m. and going until 10:30 p.m. will be the musical talent, Native Station.

Open Door Brewing Co. owner, Billy McDivitt, mentioned that a surprise beer may make an appearance at the celebration, then again it may not. The surprise is that you have to show up to find out.

The beer Open Door may introduce is called the Coquettish Cryomancer. It is the third beer in a series that includes the Coquettish Necromancer and the Coquettish Pyromancer. The Coquettish Cryomancer is a light sour and tart beer with blueberry and key lime flavors. It also happens to be bright purple.

Open Door has been working on this beer since the first Friday of 2018. It still a mystery to the public if it will make its appearance at the anniversary celebration. However, if it does make its debut, you will have to show up at Open Door and help them celebrate, in order to be one of the first to try this new brew.

McDivitt says, "We are excited and have big plans for this next year. We hope this weekend celebration is just the kickoff to what should be an amazing three quarters left of the year."

McDivitt and the Open Door team hope to release nine new beers this year. McDivitt said, "we have about a half dozen new beers that no one, other than really close friends and family, have tried." They are excited to bring back some of the seasonal beers as well. Also they plan to update current recipes that are "tried and true but we feel we can make them even better."

Celebrating this first anniversary feels like, "the first sign of validation," says McDivitt. The company technically began in mid-2015 and had their first beer later that year. They spent all of 2016 selling their brews wholesale and trying to build the company up. One year ago they opened the taproom.

McDivitt states, "we depend on customers and are nothing without their business. We have made many great new friends. We thrive on being a part of the community and being a place to hang out with friends."

Open Door Brewing Co. is located at 2030 Ionosphere St. Unit G in Longmont, Colorado.
