"We choice these two because of their unique flavor profile and how well they are received by our customers," says Dean J. Landi, co-founder/President of St. Vrain Cidery.

"We chose to move towards cans because of the market in Colorado as well as around the United States. We also noticed cans are more versatile and easier to transport. We will also be bottling some of our more specialty ciders in the future."

Currently, the cidery has "roughly 400 cases of each product" from 30 barrel batches. They limited their canning to see "how our product is received by the public," states Landi. If things go well, "we plan on offering a mixed 12 pack at some point this year."

"The biggest challenges were making sure that we have our ratios correct and figuring out what quality apple juice we could afford to match our flavor profile. To figure out the ratio's to use for our product, we are able to make smaller batches at our facility," says Landi.

In order to purchase some of St. Vrain Cidery's new canned products, Landi says, "Our cans will only be available in our taproom, through our website as soon as we have all the process in place, there may be a couple establishments that we will offer our cans and through wine festivals in the Colorado area."
