Wibby Brewing’s annual fundraising party, Lagers for Lumber, is coming back in a big way this Saturday, July 15th, as they will be hosting Colorado’s 1st ever all craft lager beer festival. The event, which will run from 4-8pm, will have 30 independent craft breweries from around the country come together in Longmont with all proceeds funding local charities through Foothills United Way’s attainable housing and community resilience programs,Safe Shelter of the St. Vrain Valley, Bike Longmont, and Left Hand Artist Group.

Ted Risk, Co-Founder of Wibby Brewing, spoke to the Longmont Observer about the upcoming event.

“We wanted to keep Lagers for Lumber going...so we partnered with Foothills United Way’s and their efforts for attainable housing and community resilience grant programs, Safe Shelter of the St. Vrain Valley and helping them provide protection and intervention to victims of domestic violence, and we invited 30 breweries from around the country to come out and pour all lagers for what is going to be the first all craft lager beer festival in Colorado. It was a way to build on the foundation of the project [House That Beer Built] that was started last year and make it our own and continue to build and support the community.”

In addition to the breweries, there will be live music (4 bands), a pool party, a silent disco (2 DJs), silent auction, halo photo booth, dog/family interactive games, bobbing for hotdogs, tie-dying, life size jenga, waterslides, cornhole and more.

“The craft beer community is such a community-oriented industry in nature, so to be hosting an event of like this in support of the greater community, its just all fits right in to what we really think is important about the business that we do and the industry that we are in. So we are excited for 30 of our friends throughout the industry to join us in celebration that is unique and community encompassing.”

Some notable beers at the event will be:

  • Avery Brewing- My Bach, an 8.3% taproom rarity. A lightly-colored Bock, brewed to have balanced hop and malt aroma
  • Zwei Brewing- Ich bin ein Schwarzbier, a 6.1% black lager
  • Stone Brewing's- Who You Callin' Wussie?, a 5.8% Northern, German pilsner
  • Tivoli Brewing- She's My Cherry Pie, 9.5% cherry lager

The VIP tent will have special pours of:

  • Augustiner Helles
  • Köstritzer Schwartzbier
  • Ayinger Celebrator Dopplebock
