Longmont Winchell's hopes to reopen by the end of this year.

In December 2021, Winchell’s Donut House at 502 Main St. in Longmont closed and has yet to reopen. According to owner, Joe Barmada, the long-awaited reopening has been delayed again.

The store closed in 2021 when a vehicle crashed into the building while trying to park in the parking lot at the rear of the store causing an estimated $500,000 in damages. The building was built in 1964 which has complicated the repairs as several things needed to be brought up to code.

The recent delay has been caused by financial issues and a lack of contract workers, Barmada said. This is after other delays caused by the cost of building materials increasing and issues with insurance and contractors, he said.

The shop hopes to reopen in mid- to late-March, however, Barmada said that date could change again.
