Longmont City Council, Tuesday night, approved accepting a $59,000 grant to help fight the spread of COVID-19 pathogens at Vance Brand Airport.
The Airport Rescue Grant comes from the Federal Aviation Administration for costs related “to the operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, janitorial services, combating the spread of pathogens at the airport” along with debt service payments, according to a city staff report.
The grant is paid 100% by the FAA and no local match is required, the staff report states.
Grant funds are to be used to “prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic,” according to the agreement document. The money is restricted for purposes directly related to the airport and can include the reimbursement of an airport’s operational expenses or debt service payments “ the agreement states.
Council voted unanimously to approve the grant agreement.
