Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle lifted the ban on inner tubes and air mattresses on Boulder County rivers and creeks, specifically the North St. Vrain and the St. Vrain Creeks.

The ban was issued on June 9, due to spring runoff causing creeks and rivers to swell and flow swiftly. These conditions causes a hazards to those using single-chambered air-inflated devices, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

The ban caused Adventure West, a tubing company new to Longmont that has set up a rental business near Dickens Farm Park, to close shortly after its launch.

Lifting the ban will allow Longmont residents and businesses like Adventure West to once again float down the cool waters of the St. Vrain Creek.
