Boulder County Republicans are moving into a new office in Longmont and planning new activist training with an eye toward building the GOP base locally.

Chair Theresa Watson said the focus will be learning about caucusing, working precincts and redistricting efforts in Boulder County and the state.

“We are always concerned about the next election,” Watson said, “and there’s been an increase in people wanting to know about the conservative movement and what we stand for.”

“We are training people on what a caucus is … and training people to work inside neighborhoods and getting information out about what our government is doing,” Watson added. “People are really upset about the decisions being made about their lives right now and we will be making ourselves available to answer any questions they might have.”

The GOP headquarters is moving from its current location at 619 Ken Pratt Blvd and will open its new office at 425 S. Bowen St., # 1 on Jan. 3.

The new headquarters is larger and will allow the party to expand its activities, Watson said.

“We feel we will be here for a few years and it will allow us to expand and grow,” she said. An open house party at the Bowen Street location is scheduled for Feb. 6 from 4-6 p.m.

The GOP is also raffling off a PSA 9 mm pistol, 250 rounds of ammunition, safety combo kit, cleaning kit and a gun mat. The drawing will be Thursday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. A ticket can be purchased at the current headquarters or through Watson at [email protected] or Bob Bergstrom at [email protected].
