Boulder County is hosting a Junior and Senior Team Fishing Derby Saturday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wally Toevs Pond at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat on 75th Street between Jay Road and Valmont.

Participants consisting of one senior 65 or older and one junior 15 or younger fish together as a team. Prizes are awarded for the team that catches the heaviest trout, has the largest age difference, and first to catch the limit, according to a Boulder County Open Space news release.

The pond is stocked with rainbow trout — artificial and live bait are permitted.

A wheelchair accessible pier is available. Bring your own fishing gear and lawn chairs for seating, the news release states. Seniors must have a valid Colorado fishing license.
