Another “warrant forgiveness” day is scheduled at the Boulder County Justice Center, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., an event which allows people with an outstanding warrant to resolve the warrant without being arrested.

The “Fresh Start” day mirrors three other events between 2019 and 2020, one in Boulder, one in Longmont and one virtually. All were “extremely successful,” according to a Boulder District Attorney news release.

The program is designed to give those with active warrants stemming from non-violent and low-level felony, misdemeanor or traffic cases an opportunity to move toward a resolution in their case. Individuals with warrants in qualifying cases will speak with representatives from the DA’s office and either resolve the case or set the case for a new court date. Participants avoid the possibility of an arrest and jail stay that can disrupt their lives, families and employment, the news release states.

“Eligible individuals have a unique opportunity to get the cases, and their lives, back on the right track,” said District Attorney Michael Dougherty in the news release. “Additionally this program saves taxpayer dollars, law enforcement resources and reduces the jail population. It is wonderful to have every part of the criminal justice system coming together again  for this innovative program, which was the first of its kind in Colorado.” Dougherty said.

Eligibility guidelines are posted on the DA’s website at: www.bouldercounty.org/district-attorney/ or call 303-441-3700.
