Update 12:06 p.m.: All Front Range Community College campuses are closed for the rest of the day and all day Saturday as police investigate a potential threat against Front Range and other community colleges in the metro area.
Front Range campuses in Longmont, Westminster and Fort Collins went on lockout at approximately 8:45 a.m. today "out of an abundance of caution" due to a potential threat.
Campus officials announced that all classes would move to remote and that campuses would be closed as of noon. Any events will be rescheduled.
The threat also includes Arapahoe Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver and Red Rocks Community College, according to Colorado Community College System officials.
Update 11:30 a.m.: Front Range Community College campuses are currently on lockout as police investigate a potential threat in the area, college officials announced this morning.
Campus security teams have secured campuses in Longmont, Westminster and Fort Collins "out of an abundance of caution," Front Range officials said in a tweet at 8:47 a.m.
Lockout means that outside doors are locked and people cannot enter the buildings, but activity inside is continuing as usual. Classes are continuing as scheduled for people already on campus, but those not inside a building should leave the area until they hear it's clear to return, according to campus leaders.
"Students and employees inside the building(s) are safe," Front Range officials wrote in a statement.
