Broomfield and Boulder counties are among the Front Range communities under a heat advisory until 9 p.m. as temperatures are expected to climb into the high 90s and 100s, according to the National Weather Service.

Broomfield is expected to reach a high of 98 degrees today, while Longmont is forecasted to reach 101 degrees, according to the agency. Other areas are expected to reach 105 degrees.

A heat advisory is issued when temperatures may cause heat illnesses, and people should plan to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors, according to the National Weather Service.

People without air conditioning at home should try to spend the warmest part of the day in an air-conditioned space, according to the Red Cross. Other precautionary measures include covering windows with shades, using window reflectors and staying away from sugary, caffeinated or alcoholic drinks.
