Michael Reis, Executive Director of the Longmont Housing Authority (LHA), has resigned and Board Chairman Wendell Pickett will take his place.
9News reported Thursday afternoon that Reis's resignation comes at the request of the executive members of the LHA board.
The LHA came under scrutiny last year for inviting police officers to search the housing units without a warrant.
Mayor Brian Bagley sent an email to council members and staff stating that the "city has offered its support and resources to LHA as they now administer their housing program without the assistance of Mr. Reis. I encourage Harold Dominguez and the LHA executive board to work closely with one another as we all make this necessary transition to assure that our most vulnerable citizens continue to receive the supporting housing we need."
