Man Jailed After Throwing 10-Pound Rock at Greeley Police Vehicle Wednesday Morning

Dillan Roker, 27, has been charged with First Degree Assault and Criminal Mischief and charges are scheduled to be filed on September 8.

27-year-old Greeley resident Dillan Roker has been charged with First Degree Assault, a class four felony, and Criminal Mischief, a class six felony, for throwing a 10-pound rock through the window of a Greeley Police Department photo enforcement vehicle on Wednesday morning. The incident caused minor injuries to the photo enforcement technician who was in the vehicle at the time and Roker caused approximately $2,600 in damage to the law enforcement vehicle.

About 7 a.m., the vehicle was in the 2000 block of 16th Street in a school zone. The Real Time Information Center caught the incident via stationary cameras and identified Roker, who had an active arrest warrant for an unrelated misdemeanor. Roker attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was safely taken into custody by law enforcement.

Roker was booked into the Weld County Jail at 9:45 a.m. on September 3. Official charges are scheduled to be filed at the Weld County Courthouse on Monday, September 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Greeley Police posted a picture of the rock on its Instagram account next to an individual’s hand to show the approximate size.

“Our top priority is safety for our school zones and community,” the Greeley Police Department wrote on social media. “Any acts of violence against officers, city employees or public safety equipment put our staff, as well as the public, at risk. We are grateful for the swift actions of our patrol officers in taking Roker into custody. Additionally, we are relieved that our technician did not suffer from more serious injuries during the incident.”
