The 48-year-old woman killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 287 and Yellowstone Road north of Longmont Tuesday has been identified as Jerilynn Welch of Broomfield, according to the Boulder County Coroner..

Welch was driving a Nissan SUV north on U.S. 287 about 4:36 p.m., when she veered into the southbound lane and hit a Toyota SUV, said Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Josh Lewis.

Welch was declared dead at the scene, Lewis said. A 7-year-old male passenger in Welch’s vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Lewis said.

The driver of the Toyota pickup is a 25-year-old woman from Longmont. She was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Speed and weather are being looked at as factors in the crash, Lewis said.
