On Tuesday night, the City of Longmont was awarded the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) community broadband project of the year award for its NextLight™ fiber-optic network.

Tom Roiniotis, General Manager of Longmont Power & Communications (LPC), employees of LPC, Mayor Bagley, and councilmembers were present to receive the award.

"The success of NextLight has really rapidly become a source of community pride and has actually become an inspiration for other cities who are considering providing the same type of services," said Roiniotis.

"I'd like to thank everyone who was a part of this and visioning it, advocating for it, voting for it, building it, operating it, and even becoming one of our many NextLight subscribers. You've all made NextLight a glowing success and given Longmont a very bright future."

According to city council communication, "this is the second time NATOA has recognized Longmont for broadband excellence." The City of Longmont was first awarded in 2013 for their NextLight business plan.
