Services Update Related to Snowstorm of November 26
While the City’s regular snow and ice control program does not include plans for plowing residential streets, due to the large amount of snow, City staff have made the decision to plow residential streets. The snowfall has affected City emergency responses and waste services collections, as well as hampering public travel during this Thanksgiving holiday week.
Plowing Streets
- Residential plowing will begin on Tuesday night and continue nonstop through Thursday morning.
- Plows will make a single pass along streets, leaving an approximate 12-foot swath of plowed roadway.
- Motorists are asked to allow room for plows to make their way down streets - please stay out of the way of plows when driving and do not park cars on the street if it can be avoided.
- After plowing, residents can expect to encounter rows of snow (called windrows) that may require significant snow shoveling work by residents around cars and driveways.
- Trash carts will need to be placed curbside, closest to the pile of snow – make sure to leave room for the trucks.

Waste Services Collections
- Waste Services collections for Tuesday and Wednesday have been suspended due to the snowstorm. New collection dates for this week:
- Tuesday collections: Friday, Nov. 29
- Wednesday collections: Beginning Friday, Nov. 29 and continuing on Saturday, Nov. 30.
- Thursday collections: Saturday, Nov. 30
- Any collections not completed on Saturday will be finished on Sunday. Residents are asked to leave out their carts until collected. Collection routes will return to normal beginning the week of Dec. 2.
- The Waste Diversion Center will remain closed for the rest of this week. It will reopen on Monday, Dec. 2.
Delayed Opening
- In order to allow plow operators to work most efficiently, Recreation City facilities will have a delayed opening of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27. All other City facilities will operate normal hours.
Accident Alert
- Longmont is on accident alert, which means that the weather conditions are severe enough that the number of accidents outnumber the capacity of officers to respond. While we are on accident alert, officers will only respond if the following circumstances exist:
- Vehicles are disabled due to damage.
- Accident involves a fatality or injury requiring medical attention.
- Alcohol or drugs are involved.
- Accident is alleged hit and run.

All motorists involved in an accident within the city limits should call the Longmont Emergency Communications Center at 303-651-8501.
