Waterproofing work planned to begin Monday, April 29, has been postponed until at least Thursday because of the cold temperatures. This delay is expected to push final asphalt work to next week as well. If no snow is on the ground Tuesday, crews will continue to work on other tasks--including grinding old asphalt where it meets new concrete--to finish the South Pratt Parkway Bridge replacement.

Crews have begun the final road work on South Pratt Parkway Bridge. Installing waterproof membrane, milling old asphalt
where it meets with new concrete, and final asphalt paving is expected to take place the week of April 29. Drivers should anticipate frequent traffic pattern changes and be alert for workers in the roadway.
This last push to completion will cause serious impacts to traffic throughout the week, especially on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (April 30, May 1 and May 3), when milling and paving is planned to occur. Flaggers will be stopping traffic frequently on these days, and all traffic is encouraged to use an alternate route, such as Main Street. Application of the waterproof membrane is weather dependent, so cool temperatures or rain early next week could extend the paving schedule.
Once paving is complete, all lanes will be fully open to traffic, and dedicated sidewalks and bicycle lanes on each side of the bridge will be open to pedestrians and bicyclists. Other trail
closures and detours, such as closure of the St. Vrain Greenway trail east and west of the bridge, will remain in place.
Brief lane closures are possible within the next few weeks as crews finish lane striping and “punch list” items on and around the bridge.
Work on the South Pratt Parkway Bridge replacement project was originally anticipated to take approximately 9 months to complete. Heavy storms in May 2018 caused significant work delays. These delays pushed the project into winter months, which further delayed items such as colored concrete pouring, architectural finishes and asphalt paving.
