County to conduct burn at Rabbit Mountain

The Ron Stewart Preserve at Rabbit Mountain is closed today, Sept. 16, for a prescribed burn.

Officials say to expect to see smoke in the area starting at 10 a.m.

The burn was announced on Wednesday. Officials watched the weather carefully taking into account wind, temperature, relative humidity and air quality before giving the go-ahead today. 

In a news release on Wednesday, Boulder County stated that should the weather conditions change and make the operation unsafe for any reason, fire personnel will stop the burning immediately. 

The park will reopen at sunrise on Saturday.
