Rising COVID-19 numbers prompted Boulder Chief Judge Ingrid Bakke Friday to extend her suspension on jury trials in the county until Feb. 11. The suspension on trials was originally supposed to end Jan. 28.
In her order Bakke states: “In response to recent changes in COVID health safety risks, particularly the rapid increase in positivity rates for the omicron variant, at this time the courts are not able to safely assemble jurors in the 20th Judicial District.”
“COVID data for Boulder County will be be closely monitored and this Administrative Order may be modified, revised, or extended at any time, based on then-existing data, health-related considerations, input from the members of the bench and all other circumstances impacting court operations,” Bakke states in her order.
