The University of Colorado Boulder has been named the No. 2 volunteer-producing university in the nation by the Peace Corps, with 39 alumni currently serving in 28 countries around the world.
“This top ranking recognizes that CU Boulder students are passionate about making a difference, growing their perspectives and transforming lives,” said Eva Schwartz, internship coordinator and Peace Corps recruiter at CU Boulder. “Peace Corps allows our alumni to create a lasting impact by taking their knowledge and skills globally to build relationships, culture and global impact.”
CU Boulder has a long-standing history with the Peace Corps, having ranked No. 1 in 2011 and 2012. The university now ranks No. 5 all time, with 2,298 volunteers since the Peace Corps was founded in 1961.
CU Boulder alumni, known as Forever Buffs, are serving in countries including Albania, Belize, Cambodia, Colombia, Ecuador, Fiji, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Panama, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Uganda and Zambia.
CU Boulder is one of 143 institutions nationwide offering the Peace Corps Prep program, a certificate initiative housed within the university’s Center for Leadership. The program prepares undergraduates with sector-specific job skills, foreign language proficiency, intercultural competence and leadership development — all key assets for future Peace Corps applicants.
Launched in 2018, Peace Corps Prep is open to all CU Boulder undergraduates, regardless of major or academic year.
