NEWS RELEASE
LONGMONT MUSEUM
*************************
As we come back to enjoy creating, painting, learning, and socializing in Discovery Days, we want to remind folks that we have cleaning, health, and safety procedures in place that we will continue to utilize consistently:
- Requiring participants to sanitize their hands before interacting with the classroom
- Using EPA verified disinfectants on all surfaces before and after each session
- Requiring everyone ages 2 and up to wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status (N95 and KN95 masks are the most effective)
- Providing sanitizing hand wipes and hand sanitizer at each station
- Opening windows to increase air circulation during and between sessions
- Reduction of maximum number of attendees allowed per session to only 20 people (which includes babies, children, and adults)
We have a great spring planned and are looking forward to all the fun we'll have!
Our theme next week (January 19, 20, & 21) will be Life in the Pond!
What Can You Expect at Discovery Days?
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays
9–10:15 am, 10:30–11:45 am, 12:30–1:45 pm
Each week, Ms. Leigh prepares a variety of themed arts and crafts activities for you and your child to explore materials and creation techniques.
Next week, January 19, 20, & 21 we will:
- Increase hand eye coordination by pinching and placing small bits of paper, googly eyes, and feathers
- Practice pencil grip by drawing lines with markers and painting
- Increase hand strength by using mini-staplers
- Enhance cutting skills by cutting on a line
Sensory experiences you may encounter:
- Sticky glue on fingers
- Soft feathers
- Gritty and soft glitter
- Spiky and soft pipe-cleaners
- Wet paint on hands
- Wearing an apron to keep clean while painting
- Wearing a face covering/mask in the classroom
- And as always, you can expect variety of noises and voices in the classroom: some joyful, some loud, some quiet, and some just learning how to navigate this world.
Recyclable Donations!
We are looking for specifically: cylinders with plastic lids (like oatmeal or mixed nuts containers) for this spring's Musical Instruments week (think, "things to make drums!") Also, as always, we are accepting: toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, and especially plastic grocery bags.

Upcoming Themes and Schedule Online
Discovery Days encourages children ages 2–6 and their caregivers to learn together through engaging cultural experiences and hands-on activities.
