A flash flood watch is in effect for the Longmont area from noon today until 10 p.m. Meteorologists from the National Weather Service expect excessive rains to pour over the area delivering 1-2 inches in an hour or less. The excessive rains and runoff could result flooding in rivers, creeks, streams and low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Out of precaution, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority canceled tonight's summer concert. The LDDA hopes to reschedule the event in August, said Kimberlee McKee, executive director for the LDDA.

The concert would have featured Cat Jerky and Last Men on Earth.
