Traffic Impacts
In order to complete the emergency repairs, Price Road must be closed to all traffic between 2nd Avenue and Gay Street. Work is anticipated to take two days, and the road closure is planned for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 26 -27 (weather or other unforeseen circumstances could alter this plan). During the road closure, traffic will be detoured using Gay Street and 2nd Avenue. Access to local businesses will be maintained.
Improvements
BNSF requested that the City assist with asphalt patching after the railroad repairs are complete. In exchange for this help, BNSF agreed to install more durable concrete panels at this crossing, which will address ongoing maintenance issues with asphalt potholes adjacent to or between the rails. The City, BNSF and the Public Utilities Commission are scheduled to meet in November to discuss future improvements to this crossing, which will include a sidewalk on the north side of Price Road.
