Longmont Police are investigating a high-speed one-vehicle crash in the mid-block of 500 Main Street early today that resulted in one death.
The crash occurred at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, when a vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, traveling northbound on Main Street, struck the center median and a light pole at the mid-block crosswalk, according to a Longmont Police news release.
The driver, who has been tentatively identified as a Longmont resident, age 31, died at the scene. Reckless driving, speed and alcohol/drugs may have contributed to the crash, the news release states.
Traffic investigators were on the scene this morning and opened the road at 6:30 a.m.
