Sustainable Resilient Longmont this week announced four new members of its board.

Sustainable Resilient Longmont focuses on sustainability issues in the city.  As a “hub for education, advocacy and action,” it supports the three pillars of sustainability: environmental protection, responsible economic growth and social equity,” according to its website. The organization’s long-term aim is to transition Longmont to 100% renewable energy by 2030, which is in step with a city goal to achieve the same, which was approved via a resolution passed by city council in 2018.

New members of the SRL board are:

State Sen. Mike Foote. Foote previously served in the Colorado House.

Tim Villard, garden manager at Big Green, a national nonprofit organization that builds learning gardens across the country. Big Green’s learning gardens are “engaging outdoor classrooms that connect kids to real food, increase academic achievement, and drive community engagement,’ according to its website.

Eric Sheley, a city of Longmont employee who is pursuing a master’s degree in Urban Ecology and Sustainable Planning at Unity College.

Lauren Greenfield, who has been active in the civic life of Longmont and on the Art In Public Places Advisory Board.

Sustainable Resilient Longmont also organizes community events throughout the year to highlight its sustainability goals, including the Longmont Earth Day celebration.

Earlier this year it hosted a panel discussion with electric vehicle owners about the affordability, benefits, and incentives for electric vehicles in Colorado. The event also featured a parade of electric vehicles in Downton Longmont.
