Boulder County Parks & Open Space and the Sheriff’s Office Fire Management Program announced Tuesday that they have approved the prescribed burn-window dates for summer and fall for Hall Ranch.
The Nelson Loop at Hall Ranch, which is located just west of Lyons, has a burn window between August 1 and September 30. There are many factors that have to be met before the county will commence with the burn. These include weather conditions such as wind, temperature, relative humidity and air quality and fuel moisture levels.
Burn operations will be announced at least 24 hours prior via email and text notifications. The county will also post an announcement on its Facebook and Twitter pages.
Hall Ranch will be closed to the public on the prescribed burn dates for safety reasons, the county stated in a news release. If the situation changes and the county is not able to conduct the burn, it will reopen the park.
The county stated that smoke and flames “may be visible for days to weeks following the prescribed burn” and heavy smoke may linger in the air. Boulder County asks that the public not call 911.
“The areas will be monitored to ensure fires are completely out,” the county stated in a news release.
