NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF LONGMONT
*************************

In August of 2022, the Metropolitan Football Stadium District agreed to a $4.65 billion dollar sale of the Broncos and the taxpayer-funded Mile High Stadium. Local governments that paid into the tax fund to build the stadium have now seen a return on the investment after its sale, Longmont included. The funds must be used on youth activities, and Mayor Peck wants to hear from Longmont residents ages 10 to 18 on how we should spend the $980,481.19.

“I’m really excited that we have this opportunity to support the youth in our community with these funds and to hear directly from kids about how they want to use this money," says Mayor Peck. "It’s also a great way to encourage civic participation and see their ideas come to life in a democratic way."

To share your thoughts, join us for the youth summit on May 13, 2023 and submit an idea through May 31, 2023. Visit the Million Dollar Youth Summit webpage now to learn more and register today.

Attend the Summit

On Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10am to 2pm, the Mayor is hosting a Million Dollar Youth Summit in the Civic Center’s council chambers for local residents ages 10 to 18. Youth who attend in person will get lunch and a tee shirt. Registered online attendees will get a one-day recreation pass. Seating is limited for this free event, so please register in advance to reserve a spot at the summit. If you need interpretation services or other accommodations to participate, please contact Children, Youth, and Families with your request by Friday, May 5, 2023.

While the Mayor encourages attendance at the summit, Longmont youth can also submit ideas online or at the Longmont Youth Center through May 31, 2023. Ages 10 to 18 may submit an idea for youth programming or activities in any medium: video, animation, song, essay, drawing, presentation, or more.
