Home catches fire north of Longmont

No injuries were reported.

Late in the afternoon yesterday, a home north of Longmont caught fire. No injuries were reported.

Around 4:30 p.m. yesterday the Boulder County Communications Center received a call where the homeowner reported his house was on fire in the 8800 block of Vermillion Road.

The man told first responders he was attempted to clear cobwebs using a propane torch when the fire caught and quickly became out of control, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Department.

The homeowner tried to extinguish the fire but was unable to. He decided to evacuate and call 911, the release stated.

The man was the only person in the house and suffered only from some smoke inhalation, according to the sheriff's office.

Within the hour, first responders were able to extinguish the fire and check that no pets or animals were injured.
