Firestone’s recent annexation of 147 acres of unincorporated Weld County to expand its borders for more homes does not affect planning efforts for the city of Longmont.
Erin Fosdick, principal planner for the city, said in an email that the Denmore annexation is located in the eastern portion of Firestone, east of Colorado Boulevard. It is outside of the area Longmont would typically provide comment on, Fosdick said.
Longmont did not receive a referral on the annexation proposal and Fosdick said she would not have expected a referral request.
“We typically only comment on proposals closer to Longmont (west of Weld County Road 7),” Fosdick said.
In three separate actions, the Firestone Board of Trustees on July 13 approved findings of facts in favor of the Denmore property annexation, annexed the property and approved the initial zoning of the parcel for low-density residential and a neighborhood center, according to Firestone records.
The area annexed and zoned is 147.3 acres, located on the northwest corner of Firestone Boulevard and Frontier Street.
Developer Denmore LLC can now apply for a preliminary plat which lays out where subdivision lots, parks, trails and open spaces would be on the property, records state.
