The Longmont Library will once again undergo construction this year. This time efficiency is the goal.

Beginning Monday, a new sorter will be installed at the Longmont Library.

Library officials say the installation will cause minimal impact on the public until the installation is complete at the end of January.

Those impacts may include limited parking on the east side of the library and the ability to check in materials only during operating hours.

The library will extend return dates on some materials during construction. Materials such as Wi-Fi hotspots, Library of Things items, Chromebooks, board games, Interlibrary Loans and Prospector items will not receive extended return dates and will need to be returned to the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk.

The new sorter is expected to increase library efficiency and get returned items back on the shelves at a faster rate for patrons, according to a news release from the Longmont Library.
