It’s that time of the year when Longmont offers a free curbside collection of bagged leaves.

Leaves will be collected at residences located north of Ninth Avenue on Nov. 1-5 and collection will occur for residences south of NInth Avenue on Nov. 8-12, according to a city of Longmont news release.

Free leaf bags are available at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin St., while supplies last with a limit of two packs per household. Bags are also available for purchase at local home improvement stores across Longmont, the news release states.

Residents are asked to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing leaf bags for pickup:

  • All bags must be out before 7 a.m. on the Monday of the scheduled collection week and should be left out the entire week until collected.
  • Only one pass will be made through each neighborhood.
  • Leaves must be bagged; no piles will be collected. Paper bags are preferred to help reduce plastic waste.
  • No other waste materials will be collected (no branches, wood or trash).
  • Place bags in front of the house in the street, by the curb.
  • Bagged leaves will not be collected in alleys or private property. Even if trash/recycling collection occurs in an alley, you must place leaves curbside in front of your property for pick up.

For residents who miss the collection or have additional leaves, the Waste Diversion Center accepts yard-waste all year long and curbside composting subscribers can add leaves to their composting cart at any time. To subscribe to curbside compost - call 303-651-8416.
