Have you ever been strolling down the streets of Longmont and come across the large electrical boxes that have been painted with delightful art? Have you ever considered putting your art on a box? Now is the time to submit your ideas.

Longmont’s Art in Public Places is asking for artist submissions for its annual Shock Art program.

Artists wishing to participate should create a 11”L x 10”W x 7.25”H painted scale model and complete the online Shock Art submission form. All models are due no later than June 16, according to the city of Longmont.

Submission models can be made at either the Longmont Museum at 400 Quail Rd. or Longmont Downtown Development Authority at 320 Main St. Artists must also fill out an online submission form.

Once all the submissions have been received, Art in Public Places will display the designs from June 20 through July 15 at Old Town Marketplace at 332 Main St. Residents can visit the marketplace or the Art in Public Places website to cast their votes for their favorites.

The winning artists will be notified in August and will be invited to a program orientation. These artists will also receive $2,000 for their time and materials.
