Longmont City Council approved a resolution, R-2018-25, Tuesday night for a contract that would allow a Boulder County Youth Corps team for service projects during the 2018 summer season.
According to city council communication, "Longmont will use one full team (10 members and 2 leaders) in the Public Works and Natural Resources Department (PWNR) for forestry management, weed control and trail work at Button Rock Preserve."
The cost to the city for a full team to work at Button Rock Preserve will be $28,875. Funding for the contract was already appropriated in the 2018 PWNR operating budget.
The projects are slated to begin Monday, June 11, 2018, and will continue through Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
According to the scope of services document, the type of work to be performed includes "cutting woody plants and weeds off face of dam; forestry projects consisting of trimming tree limbs, clearing/piling tree slash, removing small logs, and mulching/watering trees; removing noxious weeds; trail construction and maintenance; and other tasks as identified and submitted to the Youth Corps by the Watershed Ranger."
