Each year, around December 21, a national effort is made to to hold a service for and remember members of the homeless community who have passed on.
In Longmont, such a service was held on December 18, 2019 by HOPE. As participants entered the service, they were given roses to place by the name of the individual they wished to remember or to sprinkle petals among all.
This year ten people passed away. Those names include:
- Ron Bauer
- Ponciano Cortez
- Starr Davis
- Gail
- Juan Garcia
- Archie Heffernan
- Charles Kunz
- Ron Queen
- Marjorie Sovocool
- David Webb
- And all others whose names we do not know
“These people are part of the Longmont community and deserve to be remembered,” said Joseph Zanovitch, executive director of HOPE. “Their deaths have a lasting impact on the homeless community and we wanted to create a safe space for friends and family members of the deceased to grieve their deaths and celebrate their lives.”
