Longmont Leader welcomes newest reporter: Carah Wertheimer

I’m delighted to be returning to Longmont as a reporter.
Headshot 2018
Carah Wertheimer

I’m delighted to be returning to Longmont as a reporter.

I first got my start as a journalist at the Boulder Daily Camera and Longmont Times-Call newsrooms in 2016. To this day I am grateful to those who mentored me, who took me under their wing and showed me the ropes. Starting off with a general assignment beat at the Camera, I wrapped up the year as the Times-Call community reporter, covering nonprofits, faith communities, arts and culture, and education. I felt very welcomed here and was just getting going when my position was eliminated—part of sweeping cuts at sister papers across the Front Range. It was nothing short of a heartbreak.

From my first day in the newsroom I felt like I had found my professional home, a way to contribute that energized, engaged and never ceased to surprise me. I especially enjoyed discovering Longmont. I found innovative projects, a generosity of spirit and a level of community involvement that’s increasingly rare in our fast-paced digital world.

I never imagined that someday I would have the opportunity to return. And here I am, coming full circle four-and-a-half years later, looking forward to exploring Longmont anew.

I hope my reporting will reflect the richness and diversity of this community, and I need your help for that to happen. Please feel free to share your story ideas with me at [email protected]. While I may not be able to cover each and every tip, I love hearing from people and always learn something new.

So please do reach out, even if it’s just to say hello.

Thank you for welcoming me once again into your community.
