A 36-year-old Longmont man facing a felony menacing charge was taken into custody early Sunday morning after he barricaded himself in his home for 13 hours. The Longmont Emergency Communications Center issued a reverse notification for homes in the immediate vicinity of 1800 block of Donovan Drive during the incident, according to a Longmont Public Safety news release.
Travis Allan Jensen was taken into custody at 3:30 a.m. and was combative with officers, the news release states. Once in custody, Longmont Police sought a medical clearance for Jensen at a local hospital and he was transported to the Boulder County Jail.
Police were called at 2:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1800 block of Donovan Drive on a menacing call, police said. A caller stated a male resident at 1827 Donovan, a duplex, exited his home and pointed a rifle at multiple neighbors.
Jensen - the occupant of the property - returned to the home and refused to exit when patrol officers arrived, the news release states. The responding officers attempted to get Jensen to surrender voluntarily.
A SWAT call-out resulted in a significant police presence in the area, the news release said. The suspect refused to comply for hours. Officers sought a search warrant to enter the home which became available about 8 p.m., according to the news release.
Longmont SWAT sought assistance of members from the Boulder County SWAT team, the city of Boulder SWAT team, the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad, and the Arapahoe County SWAT Team, the news release said.
