The city of Longmont has narrowed the candidates for Longmont Public Safety Chief down to four.

On June 18, the city of Longmont hosted a virtual public forum to introduce candidates vying for Longmont’s public safety chief position.

Candidates were asked to answer several questions and later the city collected feedback from the public about which candidates should move forward.

According to city officials, Dante Orlandi, a former major in the Pennsylvania State Police has been removed from the list of candidates.

“As we are moving through the backgrounds and looking at different issues, we are taking the community feedback into play,” City Manager Harold Dominguez told the Times-Call. “I think based on what we need with the role of the position, it wasn’t appropriate to carry Dante forward. It was just based on what we needed.”

During the forum, Orlandi told the audience his job in Longmont would be primarily finding out the top concerns of residents. “I work for you, we are your police department, we listen to your needs,” Orlandi said.

Left in the pool are Zach Ardis, the current executive director of Policy, Planning and Public Safety in Commerce, Ga.; Kennenth Chavez, a retired Denver Police Department lieutenant; Manny Almaguer, an assistant Denver fire chief; and Michael Marino, current assistant chief in Prince George’s County, Md.
