Longmont out and about: Longmont Elks Lodge hosts western-themed event to support local Veteran's Community Project

Every fall, the Longmont Elks Lodge hosts an event to support a local non profit. This Saturday, the Elks will host a Western-themed Veteran’s Community Project Charity Event to support Veteran's Community Project - Longmont. The event, held at 306 Coffman Street in Longmont, will commence at 5 p.m. with cocktails and close at 11 p.m. with a toast. In between, there will be a buffet-style barbecue dinner by Pork Hub ($20 per person), speeches from VCP members and a live performance by the band Highway Robbery. Three guns will be raffled off and a silent auction will take place courtesy of the Elks’ sponsors and members, featuring items from places including Magpul, Murdoch’s and Spirit Hound Distillers. 

This event is open to the public. A $5 donation is encouraged from persons who attends.

Home Grown Shorts from the 2021 Boulder International Film Festival | Thursday Nights @ the Museum

This Thursday from 7:15 to 8:45 in Stewart Auditorium at the Longmont Museum, it will be an evening dedicated to short documentary films by local filmmakers from Denver, Boulder, and Longmont as featured in this year’s Boulder International Film Festival. The film screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for students and seniors and $5 for Museum members. Art'N'Sip Classes at the Museum - Hand-Printed Market Tote

On Thursday, October 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Longmont Museum, grab a drink and get creative with a Hand-Printed Market Tote art class for adults! Learn the art of linocut block printing. In this class you will design, cut, and print your own personal graphic on a handy market tote. Make one for yourself or a friend! Tickets for the class are $35 per person. 

Ribbon Cutting-MECO Coffee Collective

On Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m., Meco Coffee Collective will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 627 Main Street with coffee, handmade pastries and local retail.

Poetry Night at the Firehouse Art Center

Join the Firehouse Art Center Writers at the Firehouse for our monthly last Friday poetry night from 7 to 9 p.m. Poetry is an opportunity, it gives us the chance to celebrate and commemorate all the wonderful moments in our lives from the simplest smiles to the most momentous victories. It also enables us to cope in challenging times. With poetry, we can address our problems, come to terms with them, and work to grow past them. It has the potential to move across the spectrum of human experience in a cathartic and often beautiful way. Please only read original work. This event is free but the Firehouse Art Center, as a 501c3 non-profit organization, always appreciates donations. 

The Soundpost Sessions - Sturtz with The Wildwoods

Live music in an intimate listening room setting at Longmont Public Media in the downtown Longmont Creative District. This Friday, from 8 to 10 p.m., come listen to Boulder’s Sturtz with The Wildwoods as they perform live. 

Sturtz’s music stands out for its distinctive, soothing instrumental and vocal harmonies. The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello], and Will Kuepper [bass] – falls somewhere at the intersection of folk and soul, with lead singer Andrew Sturtz’s melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals.

Limited seating capacity! The show will be recorded for future broadcast, but come enjoy LIVE MUSIC as part of the live studio audience. BYOB alcohol permitted.

Cars that Care BUILD CLINIC | Downtown Longmont, CO

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, volunteers for non-profit organization Community Cares will be available to assist youth "racers" build their model Pinewood Derby Car that they will race in honor of their assigned sponsor at the Care Pine Car Derby. Design, cut, shape, paint, decorate, add wheels and accessories to your model race car at any of the build clinics. Volunteers will be located in the alleyway of 300 east parking lot at the east entrance of the Old Town Marketplace. Water and snacks will be available. 

Out Boulder Youth Program LGBTQ Youth Dance

Out Boulder County is happy to announce this years youth dance, Queerly Magical! Come make friends, dance, eat, play games, and more! The dance will take place on October 23rd from 7pm-11pm at the Lafayette YMCA (2800 Dagny Way Lafayette, CO 80036) for ages 13-18. We would love to see you there! Click here to RSVP.

Eclectic Calming Class - a Sunday Speciality at Elevated Yoga Studio

There is normally not just one cause of stress and anxiety so let’s use more than one way to diffuse it. Come join Natalie from 5 to 6 p.m. at Elevated Yoga Studio on Sunday in a yoga class to learn and practice some basics of Emotional Freedom Tapping, Reiki, Yoga, and Guided Meditation that will help bring a calmer you to the surface.

Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra: The Phantom of the Opera (1925)

On Thursday, October 28, from 7:15 to 8:45 in Stewart Auditorium at the Longmont Museum, there will be a screening of the 1925 silent horror film classic, with the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra performing the live musical score to accompany the film. Art'N'Sip Classes at the Museum - Painting a Macro Succulent

On Thursday, October 28, starting at 6:30 p.m at the Longmont Museum, grab a drink and get creative with a Painting a Macro Succulent art class for adults! With inspiration from Georgia O’Keeffe, we will take a closer look at the beautiful leaves of an echeveria succulent. In this guided acrylic painting class, you will learn how to create an interesting composition and play with expressive color and line to create a unique work of art. Tickets for the class are $35 per person.

Community Cares and PEARL Promise is excited to announce that our 2nd Annual Cars that Care Pine Car Derby will be held on October 30 at the Old Town Marketplace in Longmont, CO. There is no cost to participate; however, youth need to register in person at Boba Coffee at the Old Town Marketplace or online at www.oldtownmarketplace.com prior to the event. Registrations are limited and participants will need to build their pine car prior to Race Day. Youth are also invited to dress in their Halloween costumes for Trunk’N Treating between 12 and 4 p.m. on Race Day, hosted by 303 Outlawz Cruisers.
