Pro Musica Colorado's Mozart: A Concert of Healing

The Longmont Museum will welcome Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra back to the museum’s Stewart Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 4 for a special Concert of Healing from their signature repertoire, Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony.

“Pro Musica Colorado is a professional chamber orchestra. Through their performances of diverse works, they create a musical dialogue that evokes the full range of human expression by bringing fresh perspectives to the music of the past, presenting the visceral immediacy of new music, and sharing new voices from ethnically and racially diverse cultures. ”

Additionally, one of Boulder’s favorite musicians, flutist Christina Jennings will be featured in performances of the Goldfinch Flute Concerto by Antonio Vivaldi and a new work by CU Boulder composer and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Carter Pann. Opening the program is Mozart’s Symphony No. 15 in celebration of Pro Musica Colorado’s 15th anniversary.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium. Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for students and seniors and $18 for museum members. Masks and proof of COVID vaccination are required to attend this program. To learn more about the event and purchase tickets, visit the event webpage.

The same Concert of Healing will also take place at the First United Methodist Church in Boulder on Saturday, Feb. 5 starting at 7:30 p.m.

Art & Sip: Painting an Origami Crane

Origami began in Japan during the 6th century when Buddhist monks from China brought paper to Japan. The crane bird has become one of the most well-known origami folds. In this Art N’ Sip class at the Museum from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 3, we will use a photo reference and graphite tracing paper to create a drawing of an origami crane on canvas and then paint it with acrylic paints. Grab a drink and get creative with these classes for adults. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks will be available for purchase in the Atrium Bar. This season you’ll see a special focus on art projects inspired by our current exhibit Washi Transformed: New Expressions in Japanese Paper. Register online or by calling 303-651-8374. Registration opens January 18.
