After a year hiatus, Downtown Summer Concerts will return to Longmont for only one night this year. On Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 4th Avenue and Kimbark Street, Francis and Wolf will kick off the event with a performance at 6 p.m. Later, there will be a performance by a local favorite and Colorado’s tribute band to The Eagles, The Long Run. Local music, food, drinks and community fun galore!

Join the Firehouse Art Center Writers at the Firehouse for our Monthly Last Friday Poetry Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Poetry is an opportunity, it gives us the chance to celebrate and commemorate all the wonderful moments in our lives from the simplest smiles to the most momentous victories. It also enables us to cope in challenging times. With poetry, we can address our problems, come to terms with them, and work to grow past them. It has the potential to move across the spectrum of human experience in a cathartic and often beautiful way. Please only read original work. Basic Handgun and Concealed Carry Course
Are you interested in getting training to apply for your concealed carry license? Or do you just want to get back to the basics of handgun safety? Learn how to safely store, carry, and shoot your handgun at Longmont Fire, Police and Community Health and Resilience’s Basic Handgun and Concealed Carry Course at the firing range August 28th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This co-ed course for ages 18 and up is a combination of classroom and range time, appropriate for all levels of shooters. Gain valuable knowledge and skills of the shooting sport, fundamentals of marksmanship, reloads, and clearing malfunctions. This course exceeds state standards for concealed carry permit (CCW) requirements. Each participant will receive a certificate upon course completion. CCW permits must be obtained in the county in which you reside. Please bring your own handgun, 100 rounds of ammunition, and dual hearing and eye protection. Watershed Days Festival
What are the components of a watershed and why do they matter? The Watershed Days Festival aims to engage Front Range communities in learning about watershed health and recovery through events that support water education, outreach, and innovation. Fun for all ages with booths, music, dancing, games, freebies, and free snow cones for the first 200 people! Hands-on experiences will raise awareness and provide connections about the health and recovery of watersheds and forests in Colorado. The event will take place from 12 to 3 p.m. on August 29 at LaVern Johnson Park and will feature interactive booths between 12 and 3 p.m., a dance performance by Maren Waldman and team from 12:30 to 12:45 p.m., Kona Ice snow cones from 12 to 2 p.m. (free for the first 200 people) and live music by SummerHawk from 1 to 3 p.m.
All Breed Open Horse Show
From 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, there will be an all breed open horse show.

Elevated Yoga Studio's annual Yoga in the Park program is a free or pay what you want option for our community. Classes take place every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the southwest corner of Thompson Park (Downtown Longmont, 4th Ave. and Bross St.) Class is beginner-friendly, a welcoming and easy-going yoga class outside with all that nature has to offer us that day. Taught by rotating teachers from Elevated Yoga Studio. Pre-registration is encouraged to help us track attendance, you’ll receive a reminder email, and would also be notified if class is affected due to weather.

Restorative Practices Orientation
On Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Longmont Community Justice Partnership, there will be a restorative practices orientation. This session includes introduction to Restorative Practices & Restorative Justice, an overview of LCJP Programs and a brief history of LCJP, basic restorative skills practice with a group activity.
Whether you just want to find out more about restorative justice and LCJP or you'd like to contribute to this work by volunteering or donating - this is a good place to start.
