Longmont Pride Week will keep the virtual celebration rolling Saturday morning with a motorcade.

The procession, organized by Out Boulder County, starts at 9 a.m. It will depart from Roosevelt Park and head north on Coffman Street to Ninth Avenue. From Ninth, it will travel east to Main Street and then south to First Avenue.

As of Thursday, more than 120 cars had registered to take part in the motorcade, said Longmont Police Officer Jason McNulty.

The motorcade will travel at 5 mph, which could create some slower travel on the route, but no road closures are planned, McNulty said. Officers will be posted at intersections to ensure traffic flow, he said.

The motorcade will allow the LGBTQ population and its allies to feel the love and camaraderie of Pride Week while still maintaining physical distance, Juan Moreno, Out Boulder County corporate sponsorship and special events manager, said last week.

“The event has gotten a lot of local support,” Moreno said. “Folks are really happy they get to be allies, and folks who are LGBTQ are glad to see support in their community.”

The motorcade will be filmed and broadcast on Facebook Live and will be followed at noon by an hour-long celebration featuring music, speakers and more to cap off a full week of activities. The celebration also will be broadcast on Facebook Live

Registration for the motorcade closed at 10 a.m. Friday. Cars that are not registered will not be allowed to participate.
